Some of us were lucky enough to attend a workshop run by Sandie on 4th February where we learned about different fabrics, wadding and threads used in wholecloth Welsh quilting, and where we were shown how to prepare our own quilts, tracing one of Sandie’s lovely designs and hand-stitching our quilts. Sandie’s generosity in sharing her skills and knowledge, and her designs, made this a most enjoyable and memorable day.
May 2019 'Strips Galore' Workshop with Jan Hassard
We had a very productive day producing our colourful blocks under Jan's guidance. Hopefully we will all be inspired to complete some more blocks and create some cushion covers, wall hangings or even quilts! Here are some pictures of concentration on our blocks and the colourful results!
February 2018 'Tulips' Workshop with Ferret
Thirteen of us spent a day sewing tulips using the Ricky Timms ”caveman technique “. We persevered with sewing many curves and alternating our colours and Ferret entertained us with many amusing tales and also proved to be a font of knowledge on any aspect of patchwork and quilting. A very absorbing day!
Twisted Log Cabin workshop with Gail Pemberthy A challenging but fun workshop where we learned about using different papers for foundation piecing, needles and threads and tips for getting those points absolutely "pointy".
Abbieanne August 2017 Workshop - what fun we had "piling and plundering" our fabrics to make the stunning Daisy Runner.
JUNE 2017 Sashiko workshop with Susan Brisco
A fascinating workshop requiring concentration and accurate measuring but giving stunning results.
Saturday 12th November 2016 An inspirational day spent with Kate Wakely learning many new techniques. We played with soluble fabrics, free motion embroidery and chenille work. We were totally engrossed and the time passed much too quickly.
Annie embroidered a beautiful seagull. Others embroidered beach huts, Christmas trees, words, we were limited only by our imagination.
On Saturday 15th October 2016 we had our second "Come and Sew" day. The turnout was very good, with 14 of us sewing and a further 6 visitors who came in for a chat and to have their machines PAT tested. Some of us worked on our ufos, others started the 6inch block challenge for our group quilt.
6th September 2016 Dawn Cameron Dick "Threaducation" An amazing day with Dawn when we had chance to play with our machines, learn what they can do and try different needles and threads. Dawn had a huge wealth of knowledge which she shared with us, answered all our questions and gave us a fact and fun filled day.
Beautiful effects were made by using soluable fabrics and machine embroidery plus some thread waste and anything else we could think of to capture in our embroideries.
The first blocks for our 6 inch block challenge. These will be made into a group quilt.
19th July 2016 - Rosemary Yeoman Workshop - The four seasons What a lovely day we had with Rosemary. In the tropical heat of our recent heatwave, we ripped fabric, pinned, stitched, embroidered, couched and some of us made more heat by burning lutradur with a soldering iron. We produced a variety of seasons, and benefitted from Rosemary's vast knowledge and experience as well as drinking tea and coffee and chatting.
Project Linus workshop A fabulous day where group members came together to make quilts for Project Linus. Beautiful fabrics, the hum of sewing machines, tea, coffee and good company made for a productive and hugely enjoyable day.
Stuart Hillard Workshop - Free-Motion Quilting A very well attended workshop to help those terrified of free-motion quilting. Stuart was a very knowledgable, entertaining and accomplished tutor and quickly got all of us free-motion quilting with confidence.

Our first introduction to oilcloth A well attended workshop where we made a variety of bags using oilcloth and ripstock. Challenging but great fun and we all ended up with a fabulous bag. Pam (one of our members) and Marcia ran the workshop for us

Create a 'Woodland scene' by Jill Davis Lots of fun sewing strips of fabric together and chopping them up again to create a multi-layered woodland scene. Different seasons could be created by clever use of colour.
"Whack and Stack" When our tutor unfortunately had to cancel our workshop at short notice, some of us decided to carry on and teach ourselves this technique. It was a challenging but fun day, we all produced some lovely blocks and got to know each other a bit better.
